Last Minute Christmas Gift Idea?
I know it's the time of year for last minute Christmas shopping, so here's an idea. This book is full of little anecdotes and bits of professional advice stuck between stories about how to deal with your older parents (or vice-versa, your adult children) and how the relationship changes and things like that. It's a very interesting book and can make a good read for young mothers or just anyone who always has parenting relationship issues.
From the author's webpage:
When your parents are driving you berserk send them this cute little book , Don't Bite Your Tongue: How to Foster Rewarding Relationships with Your Adult Children which is like a support group between two covers. It reassures them that friction between generations is a universal problem, that guzzillion other families are in the same boat, and gives them tips on how to vocalize their needs, angers, frustrations. It's a book that helps you manage your parents so you don't have to. It is available on Barnes and Nobles, Borders and Amazon.
Chocolate coin recall?
A friend of mine just called me because she got a text from another friend about a recall on the chocolate coin candy- that it contains melamine, which has caused death in children in China. So I dug around and found this
ETA: The candy recall is in effect in Canada, as that is the only country affected by the product. Current Mood: worried
I found the most wonderful book
I was at the Dollar Tree yesterday and found The Great Silent Grandmother Gathering
. It looked interesting so I went ahead and bought it, and last night before bed I read the entire thing. Not only the story, but the story behind the story. This is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read!
It's the story of how two grandmothers decide to change the world by going to the park and "Not speaking. Not looking at squirrels. Not munching on coconut candy. In actual point of fact, not anything at all
." Soon the whole town is talking about them, then the nation, and soon the world.
It's an excellent book filled with a powerful message and I really feel that everyone should read it and share it with their children, friends, and family.Cross posted Current Mood: peaceful
